About Amy Fraley
Amy studied Chemistry at the Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her BSc in 2014. She obtained her Ph.D in medicinal Chemistry in 2019 at the University of Michigan of Pharmacy in the laboratory of Prof. Dave Sherman and Prof. Janet Smith. She moved to the ETH Zürich at the laboratory of Prof. Jörn Piel were she worked on the biosynthesis of anticancer polyketides by marine symbiotic bacteria. She discovered that the biosynthetic pathway includes a novel mechanism for incorporation and maintenance of this moiety, and ultimately defined the catalytic amino acids responsible for this new transformation. In 2024 she became Assistant Professor in the ETH Zürick.
